Andrew has been practising family law for over 40 years and is an Accredited Family Law Specialist, mediator and arbitrator. An alumnus from University of Western Australia holding a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Laws, Andrew is admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
Andrew has a particular interest in property settlements, financial agreements and international family law. He works with clients in many overseas countries including New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, South Africa, UK and USA. As a result, Andrew has established numerous contacts with lawyers and other professional advisors around the world who provide considerable assistance to his clients when seeking a final resolution to matrimonial disputes.
Family law continues to maintain Andrew’s interest because it is so dynamic. It is constantly changing and expanding into additional areas of law and also deals with the complex way in which families manage their financial affairs. These days it includes digital assets and cryptocurrencies.
Mediations are just one of Andrew’s specialities, a process he finds particularly satisfying for clients because it permits parties in dispute to resolve their issues quickly and costs effectively. Andrew’s incredible depth of knowledge, vast experience in all aspects of family law in Australia and abroad, and his ability to think quickly and provoke thought in others make him one of the best family lawyers in Western Australia, demonstrated by numerous peer awards in the Doyle’s Guide that he has received over the years.
Andrew has presented numerous papers and lectures at state, national and international conferences and has been a guest lecturer at universities. He is also a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner registered with the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department (FDRP), a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), a former executive member of the Asia-Pacific Chapter of IAFL, former Chair of the Family Law & Family Rights Section of LawAsia and current Chair of Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators (AIFLAM).
