MEMBERSHIPS
Trevor O’Sullivan has practised family law for more than 50 years and became an Accredited Specialist in 1992. In 1999, he completed professional mediation and arbitration qualifications and is a member of AIFLAM and Resolution Institute.
Although there are more lucrative legal fields, Trevor chose to specialise in family law because he finds deep satisfaction in helping others through meaningful human interaction.
Trevor believes the most enjoyable aspects of family law are not a trial or a long, drawn-out torrid set of litigation, but reaching a solution with which a person is content so they can move on with their lives and make future plans. He admires people who make changes for the better, improve or create things, recognising that it takes courage to make a change and determination to make improvements.
Trevor also takes great pride in mentoring his team, encouraging growth and professional development. He is committed to upholding exceptional standards, which are intrinsic to the firm’s culture.
Trevor is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and has chaired the Law Society of WA’s Accreditation Committee. He is a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association of WA, having previously held several executive positions including President and Secretary. In 2013 Trevor became a Life Member and in 2018 was named Family Lawyer of the Year.
He has served on the Executive of the Family Law Section, has written many papers, given many lectures, and is a former Chair of the Wesley College Council.
A devoted sports fan with a strong connection to the Fremantle Dockers and a WACA member of over 50 years, Trevor chairs the WAFL Tribunal and became a Life Member of the WAFL in 2020. In his athletic youth, he was a track and field athlete, a manger of state and Australian teams, and still meets regularly with his cohort.
