Rachel Harkness


Rachel graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2015 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies).

Rachel was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in October 2016, and entered onto the Roll of Practitioners at the High Court of Australia in November 2016.

Rachel commenced working at O’Sullivan Davies in 2019. Prior to joining O’Sullivan Davies, Rachel worked in a boutique family law firm where she had significant experience with complex financial matters, including those progressing to trial.

Rachel is currently studying a Master of Laws (LLM) at the Australian National University, specializing in advanced family law, dispute resolution, and advanced contracts and equity. Rachel also holds a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and a Certificate of Legal Business Skills.

Rachel practices in all areas of family law, and has a strong interest in financial matters involving complex entity structures, companies, trusts, and tax considerations.

Rachel has co-authored papers for the WA Tax Institute on the intersection of family law and tax for accounting and finance professionals, including “Tax & Family Law – Pitfalls & Opportunities” presented at the 2017 WA Tax Institute Family Law Intensive, and “Your client tells you that they are separating. What do you do next?” presented at the 2018 The Client Life Cycle CPD.

Rachel is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Family Law Practitioners’ Association of Western Australia, Law Society of Western Australia, and Women Lawyers of Western Australia.
